What does church mean to you?
How do you make a difference in a world filled with hate, pride, greed, and selfishness?
How do you find comfort in times of trouble?
At First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood, we are trying to figure that out every day…
We live in a constantly changing world. It is more and more difficult to figure out how to live a Christian life amidst all of the pressures to "be yourself" and to "control your own destiny." We at FPCE know that you don't have to be alone in this world - that there is someone along for the ride who wants to help, but is just waiting to be asked.
We don't claim to have all of the answers to life's problems, but we know who does, and we are in constant conversation with God in everything that we do…worship services, bible studies, picnics, festivals, musical concerts, mission outreach projects.
Jesus said "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20).
We take that charge very seriously through many different ministries and programs at Edgewood.
Please know there is a place for you in the fellowship of this "Community Church." We invite you to come get acquainted, and to become a part of an active, working church which provides enriching opportunities for people in every walk of life.

- We have sent missionaries to Alaska to run a vacation bible school program, and to Mexico to build houses for underprivileged families.
- For over 15 years, we ran an after school and summer enrichment program for children in the community, offering tutoring, play time, crafts, snacks, and more.
- During the 90s and early 2000s we partnered with a congregation in Malawi, Africa through the Presbyterian Church, USA. We have sent several people over and welcomed many of their members. We helped them in the construction of their church building.
- For many years, we opened our doors at Thanksgiving for a community meal together, serving nearly 100 meals each year to local families, elderly, EMT, fire, and police workers.
- Our deacons run a food pantry for those in need, available by appointment through the church office. Students from Shady Side Academy Junior School regularly collect donations to help restock the shelves around the holidays.
- And we have fun together, too! A Strawberry festival, Concert Series, community dinners, and more make up the life of this warm and friendly congregation.
