FPCE is a Community Resource
The First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood is proud to be able to offer the building's facilities to several community organizations. Groups using the Church building for regular meetings or events include:
Boy Scout Troop #23 & Cub Scout Pack #23 - Monday evenings
Alcoholics Anonymous - 2 different weekly group meetings in the Social Room
SAA Recovery Group meets on Thursday evenings in the Lounge.
Edgewood Recreation and Police Departments occasionally use the Social Room or Gathering Place for meetings, community information sessions, and fundraising events such as pasta dinners.
Edgewood Fire Department uses the School Street parking lot for training of new firefighters.
Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf shares the School Street parking lot with FPCE. They also allow the church to use their additional parking lots during larger events like the ESO and Vocal Confluence concerts.
Edgewood Symphony Orchestra officially resides at FPCE as of 2022. They have office space on the second floor, hold regular board meetings and auditions, and rehearse on Tuesday evenings at the church, as well as perform several concerts per year in the sanctuary.
Milepost6 rehearses in the basement of the church on Thursday evenings. Milepost6 is a Pittsburgh-based band, performing personalized takes on classic rock hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond.
Vocal Confluence barbershop a cappella chorus rehearses on Mondays and holds their shows in the sanctuary.
Steranka Flute Studio holds private flute lessons weekly as well as occasional studio recitals & recording sessions.
Munhall Community Band performs selected season concerts in the sanctuary.
The Woodland Hills Foundation uses the Heritage Room in the church basement to store supplies for events they sponsor to support students and teachers in the Woodland Hills School District.
Stonewall Abbey holds monthly bonfires on the side lawn. A New Worshipping Community of Pittsburgh Presbytery, Stonewall Abbey is a refuge for spiritual wanderers, outcasts, and orphans to explore spirituality and faith. This is a home for some and a resourcing space for others. Gathering for monthly liturgical bonfires, Stonewall Abbey is a place to explore the queerness of Christianity in community.
Almost the entire second floor of the facility is the weekday home of the Edgewood Day Care.
