Join the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra for their next performance on Saturday, March 12th at First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood. Say goodbye to winter with a fun and spirited performance of Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, narrated by renowned mezzo-soprano Demareus Cooper. Prokofiev’s classic features the first combined performance of ESO strings and woodwinds since December 2019.
Then our brass section will shine through Paul Dukas’ Fanfare pour précéder la Péri, Humperdinck’s Abendsegen & Pantomime from Hansel & Gretel, the Premiere of ESO’s own Justin Miller’s Strife, and an arrangement of Shostakovich’s Suite from “The Gadfly.” Tickets are required and can be purchased here. The Allegheny County Health Department, Borough of Edgewood, and the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood require all audience members to wear face masks while attending the performance. The ESO also requests that attendees be vaccinated against COVID-19. Please respect these guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent with a public act of confession and contrition. Acknowledging that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, we stand in solidarity as fellow creatures before our Creator, acutely aware of our mortality. In the face of our transience, we pledge ourselves anew to live unto God’s Word in Jesus Christ, the eternal Word that remains forever.
FPCE will hold an Ash Wednesday Service at 7:00PM on March 2, 2022 in the Sanctuary led by the Rev. Fairlight Collins Lower.
