Friday Reflection During Lent

3/2/2018

Good morning,
It is a gray and blowy day.  I took our dog outside early this morning and watched the wind bend and toss the limbs of the tallest trees to and fro as though they were thin blades of wheat.  I was reminded of one of the more intriguing and mysterious teachings of Jesus, “The wind blows where it chooses, you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.  So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”  (John 3: 8)  We never do know, do we, where the Spirit will lead us, or guide us, or drive us?
I do not know where the wind, the sometimes violent wind of the Spirit, has driven you.   I do believe this, no matter where you are, no matter what you are going through, we all are being prepared to receive the One who declared to Martha and Mary through their tears,  “I am the resurrection and the life.  Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”  (John 11:25)  Be strong brothers and sisters, all will be well.
Pastor Michael
