Reflection During Lent

Good morning good people,
                The collective sigh that emerged from the homes of Pittsburgh yesterday morning came from the lips of parents who woke up to the good news - the strike had been adverted.  Schools would remain open!  No need to scramble for child care or worry about teens with nothing to do.
If there is one thing we can take for granted it is this - God does not go on strike.   “Give thanks to the Lord, for God is good, his steadfast love endures forever.”  I may take a day off, or two, or three, from God.  I may even choose the life of a truant for a time.  But like the father whose eyes scan the horizon awaiting the return of the son who lost his way, God is waiting at a door set wide open for us to come home.  “Give thanks to the Lord, for God is good, his steadfast love endures forever.”
