This is our first attempt at a Facebook Live Stream of our worship service.  Members are encouraged to either watch online at facebook.com/fpcedgewood and follow along with the bulletin linked below, or if they feel healthy and safe enough to do so, they may join us in the back of the sanctuary following our established safety protocols.  Those wishing to watch the fully edited video on YouTube may do so on Monday morning after Shaun has a chance to add in hymns, responses, and upload it.

The Rev. Carol Divens Roth joins us once again to lead worship this week, preaching a sermon titled "The Chicken Coop."  Musical selections are varied - from traditional to newer tunes, Iona Community to Irish folk song.  You are encouraged to fully participate in the service from home as it happens on screen.

We will move to Sunday mornings for our worship service THIS coming Sunday, August 31 at 11:00am.  The same set up as Friday afternoons will apply, with those wishing to attend our recording session invited to enter the East Swissvale Avenue entrance, masked, sitting socially distanced.  The same rules apply during the service: avoid handshakes, hugs, singing, but do join in prayers and responses.  We will attempt to live stream the service on Facebook while recording Sunday at 11:00.  The bulletin will be emailed out Friday afternoon so that you can follow along if watching the live stream.  The edited video with responses & lyrics will be available on YouTube Monday morning.

As our guest pastor, the Rev. Carol Divens Roth, said in her email to the staff about this week's service, "if we can have Christmas in July, why not Easter in August?!"  This week we are reminded that every Sunday is a little Easter by recounting the story of the empty tomb found in the gospel of Luke.  The psalm reading encourages us with the repeated phrase, "his steadfast love endures forever."

Our worship for the 10th Sunday after Pentecost includes the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.  You are invited to prepare the elements of bread and juice (of any kind) at home to partake when invited to do so.  Our guest pastor this week is the Rev. Brian Wallace, Associate Minister at Pittsburgh Presbytery.  He preaches from the gospel of Matthew and Psalm 1 in a sermon titled "What Gives You Life?"

Worship for the 9th Sunday after Pentecost includes a sermon by guest pastor, the Rev. Kellie Weekley-Mills, titled "Tethered.  Yet Boundless." 

We had a technical glitch while recording on Friday...I forgot to put my phone on airplane mode before we began recording, and a spam call came in right in the middle of the service, which stopped the recording!  John fortunately figured out what happened and we were able to go back and re-record the missing portion before we finished the service.  However, while looking to see where we needed to begin again, I pulled the cord out connected to the microphones to listen and forgot to plug it back in.  So, there is about a 10 minute portion at the end of the sermon up to the beginning of the prayer where the audio changes before John noticed the cable was unplugged and reconnected it.  You can still hear everything, it just sounds far away since it's the built in camera microphone and not the one at the pulpit.

The new Mevo Start wireless streaming camera is on order and should be here in the next 2 weeks.  Once we return to regular in-person Sunday morning worship, we will be able to live stream our services on Facebook as well as post to YouTube with this camera.
